I’ve tried to dig my heels in and carry on regardless but I’m starting to feel the effects of the Coronavirus! No, not physically but it’s starting to affect my business. I’ve been very lucky in so far as I’ve only had some meetings postponed until further notice and the jobs that are in the diary for the next couple of weeks are, fingers crossed, still on. But I can’t help feeling cancellations might be coming despite my carry on regardless attitude!

This might seem trivial to some of you reading this compared to big companies/employers etc and the things other businesses might be going through. I’m self-employed though and if my shoots get cancelled or people postpone future jobs that keep my business going and keep a roof over my head what do I do then?

It’s worrying times for all of us! I’ve been speaking to lots of fellow freelancers I know from the creative sector and beyond. All of them have similar worries about how this is going to affect our future jobs, incomes and businesses as a whole as it doesn’t seem to be going anywhere any time soon. I hope everyone can stay safe and we can get past this soon and get back to some sort of normality, whatever that even is these days!? It seems like it’s one thing after another at the moment!

I’m still digging in though and Matt Wilson Photography is ‘Open for Business’ and still taking bookings and meetings but protection measures are being put into place as you can see!

I understand it’s not easy for any of us at the moment so if I can help anyone in any way please reach out. I’m going to be trying to use this time wisely and perhaps thinking of some different ways to generate some income in these uncertain times ahead.

Oh, and I’m still trying to make something creative out of the current situation the world seems to be in! Albeit something a little puerile but an hour or so of being creative with a silly idea was very needed after what seems to have been a heavy few weeks for the world!

This what I came up with! My take on a modern-day Rembrandt! What do you think? I’m no oil painting, am I?
