Every now and then, in any creatives life, we experience that ‘creative block’. Some of us more than others. It’s just not flowing or you’ve lost some of that passion that you once had for the medium that you love so much! Don’t worry, it happens to everyone, even the greatest artists throughout history I would guess. Now, I am, most certainly, not one of the greatest artists in history, but this is where I also found myself recently… in ‘Creative Nowhere Land’!
‘Creative Nowhere Land’ sounds dramatic I know, but it’s also sounds pretty cool too right? The phrase/name came up when, a fellow creative and I were discussing the trials and tribulations of trying to stay creative and inspired with new ideas while taking on commercial commissions and keeping the bills paid (Yes! Creatives have bills too despite the myth we work for free and live off unicorn sparkles ha ha!).
Staying creative is hard work sometimes! There is no recipe to success but what I do know is that, for me personally, staying creative and inspired means putting in the work! But how do you stay inspired to put in the work? Maybe by being accountable?
That’s why I have decided to start this blog (never thought I would hear those words leave my lips)! Somewhere I’m accountable, mainly to myself, to stay inspired and creative as a blog won’t fill itself with, hopefully interesting, articles and work! I want somewhere I can share new projects, ideas, information, inspiration and maybe a little more about me and my creative journey so far and going forward. It might not always be photography based either who knows, but maybe it is my plan of ‘creative’ salvation that will lead to some interesting stuff in the future.
So for now, thanks for reading and sticking with me through the waffle, I will try and make it as interesting and as informative as possible and also regular. I would love to hear what subjects people would like to see blog posts on in the future so feel free to get in touch.
