I have a heavy heart this week! My dear friend Bob sadly had to say goodbye to his best friend and canine companion of 12 years, Skip. Skip passed away early on Friday morning with Bob by his side as he had always been. If you have read my previous blog post about these two characters, ‘This is Bob…’ (https://www.mattwilsonphoto.co.uk/blog/2019/6/19/creative-nowhere-land-blog-this-is-bob), you may understand why this loss is so painful for Bob and anyone that ever crossed paths with Skip. Bob is obviously heartbroken but staying positive as Bob always does!
Bob rescued Skip 12 years ago, from people who were trying to use him as a fighting dog. They had been together ever since. The bond they had was incredible and Bob always tells me that he may have saved Skip all those years ago, but Skip has saved him every day since!
I have been to see Bob a couple of times since Skip passed away and he has been, once again, blown away by the kind words, cards of condolence and outpouring of love that has come from people when they find out the sad news. This has kept him upbeat and smiling as he can see the joy that Skip brought to, not only him but to everyone who met him.
I am so glad that I was lucky enough to meet Skip and also photograph him. Bob has copies of all of the pictures that I took of the pair of them and I am so happy that he has them to hold onto. Skip you will be missed by so many people but you can go and chase some rabbits now!
Not hugely photography related this week but normal service will, hopefully, be resumed next week. It’s been a busy week with lots going on but most of it I can’t really tell you about…. well not yet anyway!
Thanks for reading and remember life is short so give the ones you love a cuddle!
P.S. - I say life is short, Bob and I did work out that Skip was actually 91 in dog years, so he had a pretty good run! Bob still always looking on the bright side of life!
